
Rautahat : A weather-related disaster response exercise has been conducted in Rautahat. All three security agencies of the district jointly conducted a weather-related disaster response exercise at Barahawa Lake in Gaur Municipality-4 on Friday under the organization of the District Disaster Management Committee.
Chief District Officer Binod Kumar Khadka said that the disaster response exercise was conducted to adopt the necessary precautions in weather-related disaster management in the Terai-Madhesh. “The disaster response exercise was conducted as it is a high-risk district for disasters,” he said.
The disaster response exercise was attended by the Nepal Army’s Narayan Dal Battalion, District Police Office, Armed Police Force, Nepal No. 11 Battalion Headquarters and agencies concerned with disaster management.
The monsoon disaster response exercise program was conducted by a joint team. Various disaster response exercises such as fire control demonstrations related to disaster reduction, search and rescue operations using rescue equipment, and rescue demonstrations from motorboats and bridges were also conducted.
Rautahat Police Chief Netramani Giri informed that the exercise was conducted to minimize potential disaster-related incidents during the rainy season. Santosh Kumar Basnet, Commander of the Armed Police Force, Nepal No. 11 Battalion Headquarters, said that such activities would help in rescue and relief in disasters. More than 250 locals participated in the exercise.
